![]() I understand that people who just upgraded or purchased KVM switches which did not pass EDID information will feel very frustrated by the suggestion of changing their hardware again. I think I will start another thread to help get Microsoft's attention on this. I've upgraded to the latest Nvidia drivers. ![]() This is making work via KVM switch nearly impossible. Not only that but because of all this monitor switching, all my apps have to be moved back to where they were originally. I have to go through the windows menus and re-detect all monitors to get my 1st monitor back. It LEAVES my desktop on the 2nd monitor and the first monitor is blank. The worst part of this problem is that when it randomly throws my desktop to my 2nd monitor and I switch back to my dual monitor box. Now when I switch from my new dual monitor setup (via kvm) to my old xp single monitor box, Windows does 1 of 2 random things: throws my desktop to my 2nd monitor or resizes my second monitor w/o throwing my desktop over to it. Worked fine until I upgraded one box to Windows 7. I used to use XP exclusively and I would use a KVM w/ double monitors to switch between a dual desktop and single desktop. I'm having a similar problem and it's disheartening to see the original post in January and this problem still not being resolved. And the street price for it is about $45/each. VGA DDC emulator (Ghoster) is not recommended, because in your case you may need 8 of them (each channel need one). Or you can buy VGA DDC emulator for each system connected and put it between connected system and the KVM switch. ![]() Please check ConnectPRO new UR or PR serial KVM switches which support Active DDC function to all the ports. Please check the link by yourself - To solve this issue, just replace the KVM switch with those KVM switches supporting FULL TIME/ Active DDC function. (according to MS's official "Display Guideline for KVM switch in Windows 7". Windows 7 checks display and display card constantly different from what XP and other OSs did. That explains when you switch/select to other channel of connected system, the connected system simply can not recognize what display had been connected, so end up with set back to system default (normally is 800 x 600). It's a normal problem found with those cheap KVM switches which did not pass the console display's EDID and DDC information to all the systems connected to the KVM switch (or the KVM switch just passed only the system connected and booted). This is a confirmed answer for all of the Windows 7 display resolution shifting issue with KVM switches. I got this problem in some game, as they are so "smart" to check the screen resolution and adjust the size. However, when the screen changed back to 1920 x 1200, as the new resolution can fully display the 800圆00 windows, it will not change it's size to fit the new resolution. When the screen changed from 1920 x 1200 to 800 x 600, it will re-size the application to 800圆00 to fit the screen. It can return back to 1920x1200, but you can notice that the screen has been change to 800圆00.įor some "smart" application, it may adjust the application display size to fit the windows. ![]() So, the same hardware works find in Vista, but failed in Windows 7. In fact, the workstation with Windows 7 installed also have Vista 32 and Vista 64 installed in other partitions, there has no problem when booting back to Vista. I have 2 workstations connecting the LCD, Keyboard and mouse with the DVI KVM, the other one is a Windows 2008 server, but only the Windows 7 beat workstation will have such display problem. + More Info Including Updated Prices, Images and Customer Reviews – CLICK HEREĪffiliate Disclaimer: As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.I got the same problem after installing Windows 7, which is a fresh installation.
